The last regular post of 2020. We get there with up and downs, especially the last few months, but life is not always a straight line so as my personal blog.
One of my goals for 2020 was to read at least 24 books. During the year it was more than promising but in the end, it was a hell of a job (I had to read a lot in December to make it).
I just prove my reading style cuz I usually read in bulk. I get in the zone and read like crazy and then just stop for a few months and then again. So the plan to read at least two books a month to maintain the momentum the whole year wasn’t very successful.
Anyway, I made my goal and the rest is a history. 🙂
Let’s list 4 books out of 24 I have read that I liked the most.
1) 12 rules for life: An Antidote to Chaos – J.B.Peterson
You can think what you want about Jordan but I would recommend trying to listen to his words without prejudice. Eye-opening reading that changed a lot of my views. Internet mobs are very unfair to him.
2) Shoe Dog: A Memoir by the Creator of Nike – Phil Knight
I was just stunned with the Nike story. It was such a hassle to bring this amazing brand to the world. I loved it. I feel so pumped after finishing this book. Amazing story.
3) Awareness – Anthony de Mello
Old but gold. A short book with a lot of thoughts. I haven’t read anything from Anthony de Mello before.
4) So Good They Can’t Ignore You – Cal Newport
This one hit very hard. Cal talks against all the “passion” or “calling” hustle. It just a different view than all the life coaches pointing out. I liked it a lot. Of course, I do not agree with everything in the book but it’s very refreshing to hear another opinion.
These are my book tips. I hope I could give you some recommendations and hopefully you will like them.
What is your favorite book of 2020?
Stay tuned. Emil
